Dreaming — Our first studio collection
Do you ever get that feeling?
When you're in foreign place, far from home. Then all of a sudden, you are struck by this strange sense of familiarity. Maybe it's the smell of freshly brewed coffee wafting by. Or the chatter of voices bantering in a market. Perhaps the fleeting moment where you’re gazing at the clouds. Someplace new but somehow so familiar. And it got us thinking.
What is a collective experience everyone has wherever they are? We only had to look up. As the lines from the song Somewhere Out There played out in our heads (even though I know how very far apart we are, it helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star), it clicked.
There is something endlessly fascinating about looking up at the night sky. It’s the comfort of knowing that at any point in time, somebody else could be looking at the exact same canvas as you. A little secret that connects us with someone anywhere who shares the same fascination.
And so we started. A flurry of sketching constellations, picking out fabrics that reminded us of shimmering stars and of the night sky, putting together shapes and silhouettes.
An observation of beautiful forms - from the greek origins of the word Kaleidscope. Seeing the world through a kaleidoscope with its myriad of colours, in anticipation of what exciting experiences lie before us.
Months of wide awake dreaming and sleepless nights later, we finally get to share our stories with you; through our designs. The Observation of Beautiful Forms—Stargazing - the start of our #AWDStory.
